A reminder: we are all connected

worth the read – have a wonderful day.

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall

to see the farmer and his wife open a package.

“What food might this contain?”  The mouse wondered.
He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard,

the mouse proclaimed this warning :

”There is a mousetrap in the house!

There is a mousetrap in the house!”

The chicken clucked and scratched,

raised her head and said, “Mr. Mouse,

I can tell this is a grave concern to you,

but it is of no consequence to me.

I cannot be bothered by it.”

The mouse turned to the pig and told him,

“There is a mousetrap in the house!

There is a mousetrap in the house!”

 The pig sympathized, but said,

“I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse,

but there is nothing I can do about it

but pray..

Be assured you are in my prayers.”

The mouse turned to the cow and said,

“There is a mousetrap in the house!

There is a mousetrap in the house!”

The cow said, “Wow, Mr. Mouse. I’m sorry for you,

but it’s no skin off my nose.”
So, the mouse returned to the house,

head down and dejected,

to face the farmer’s mousetrap

. . . Alone.. .. .

That very night

a sound was heard throughout the house

 – the sound Of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught.

In the darkness, she did not see it.

It was a venomous snake

whose tail was caught in the trap.

The snake bit the farmer’s wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital.

When she returned home she still had a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever

with fresh chicken soup.

So the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard

for the soup’s main ingredient:

But his wife’s sickness continued.

Friends and neighbors

came to sit  with her

around the clock.

 To feed them,

the farmer butchered the pig.

But, alas,

the farmer’s wife did not get well…

She died.

So many people came for her funeral

that the farmer had the cow slaughtered

to provide enough meat for all of them

for the funeral luncheon.

And the mouse looked upon it all

from his crack in the wall

with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear

someone is facing a problem

and you think it doesn’t concern you,

remember —

When one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life.

We must keep an eye out for one another

and make an extra effort

to encourage one another.

YOU MAY WANT TO SEND THIS

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER

HELPED YOU OUT…

AND LET THEM KNOW

HOW  IMPORTANT THEY ARE.

- REMEMBER -

EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD

IN ANOTHER PERSON’S TAPESTRY.

OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER

FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold onto

In this world is a FRIEND.

Remember,if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got.

Excellent advice on Stress Management

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, ‘How heavy is this glass of water?’ Answers called out ranged from 8oz. To 20oz.

The lecturer replied, ‘The absolute weight doesn’t matter.  It depends on how long you try to hold it.’

‘If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem.  If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance.’

‘In each case it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.’

He continued, ‘And that’s the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on.’

‘As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.  When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden. ‘

‘So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work/life down.  Don’t carry it home.  You can pick it up tomorrow.’

‘Whatever burdens you’re carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can.  Relax; pick them up later after you’ve rested.

Life is short..  Enjoy!’

And then he shared some ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

1 * Accept that some days you’re the pigeon,
and some days you’re the statue.

2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

3 * Always read stuff that will make you look
good if you die in the middle of it.

4 * Drive carefully.  It’s not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.

5 * If you can’t be kind, at least have the
decency to be vague.

6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is
simply to serve as a warning to others.

8 * Never buy a car you can’t push.

9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the
same time, because then you won’t have a
leg to stand on..

10 *Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.  Just get up and dance.

11 *Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

12 *The second mouse gets the cheese.

13 *When everything is coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane.

14 *Birthdays are good for you.  The more you
have, the longer you live.

15 *You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one
person.

16 *Some mistakes are too much fun to only
make once.

17 *We could learn a lot from crayons.  Some
are sharp, some are pretty and some are
dull.. Some have weird names and all
are different colors, but they all have to
live in the same box.

18 *A truly happy person is one who can
enjoy the scenery on a detour.

* * Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today ! ! ! * *

Rahman Ibrahim New Aquarium Setup

Rahman Ibrahim was not very happy with his previous aquarium setup, where we had used garden sand in his aquarium. This tank was originally setup around 5 years back, me and mahasin had come very far as gravel was concerned. I had also failed in using garden soil effectively, the problem is that the roots do not get enough oxygen and they turn black and die. only mahasin was using it with success and that also because he planted his aquariums densly. which i was not able to do, anyway, our recent successful experiment with beach sand, not the fine grain, but the few cm stones that you find on the top layer of the beach where the waves meet the beach. so all four of us, Rahman Ibrahim, his trusted side kick Rehan, yours truly Khurram and my brother danish went on an expedition in November last year to the beach to collect the gravel.

we have setup this tank a few weeks back with the material used.

still Mahasin was adamant that we use garden soil, so what we have done now is used 1 inch of garden soil first, then topped it off with  around 3 inches of well washed beach sand,

in a few month, the soil will compact and will take up less than 2 inches.

i will keep updating the progress pictures of this recent project.

i have started planting this tank and it will take a few months to set it up right.

we have recently come across a new Philips PL light (pdf), read more here  . Which is giving us good results and in the following weeks, i will be upgrading all my light to this one. we have placed 2 of these lights in this setup, plus one tubelight. Rahman think that 100 Watts bulbs are best, and i agree with him but they consume too much electricity and give off alot of heat.

Planted Aquarium Setup

Well, we did it agian.

My friend Mahasin got approval from his company on setting up an aquarium in their newely renovated office.

size is 5 feet width, by 2 feet height, by 2 feet on left side and 6 inches on the right side. Reason being that it is at the entrance so rectangular shape will make the corridor small.

Mahasin collected the sand from Sandspit and we arranged the plants from some of his friends and I also contributed some of my best specimens.

for the filtration, we have a sponge power filter with the addition of a 5 foot tube with holes at every 1 inch for outflow of the water. Reason being that that flow of water should not disturb the plants.

We will be adding fishes in the comming weeks and will add videos as well.

Would love to hear your comments and suggestions.
